On Thursday 5th May 2016, we did something completely unheard of in the debt collection industry. We started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money to pay the debts for those in extreme hardship. In just over 2 days, we raised $1200 and yesterday paid our first debt using these funds. The woman who owed the money was under severe financial stress, exasperated by a cancer diagnosis she was struggling to overcome. The lady owed $3000 to one of our clients, we negotiated a discount on her behalf with them which they accepted, and we duly paid $705 to clear her debt. This was one of the best things we have ever done and the woman was in tears when we told her the debt was paid and she could now move on with her life and focus on her health.
