“Sorry can’t talk, I’m driving!”

Hi Paidies! So who hasn’t heard this before-
You: “Hi John it’s Paul Metcalf from Collectmore Debt Solutions how are you today?”
John: “Sorry mate can’t talk, I’m driving”
Ahhh yes. Of course you are driving John. That is why I can hear the pokies in the background! No but seriously when you are told they can’t talk because they are driving, you don’t know whether to accept it and ask when you should call back, or encourage them to pull over so you can discuss. This is assuming they haven’t already hung up on you by now. I find the following is the best strategy:
John: “Sorry mate, can’t talk, I’m driving”
You: “30 seconds John, that is all I ask, put me on speaker phone if you need to, but I have to make a decision on your account right now so please pull over if you need to, but unless this $xxxxx debt is sorted today, it is likely to be out of my hands and I would hate the fact that you were driving to be the reason for that, what is the absolute most you can pay today John to stop this action?”
Guys, people are 95% less likely to hang up on you while you are talking, so just don’t shut up! Say what you need to say and then at least if they still hang up, it is highly likely they will call you back once they are stopped somewhere. Cheers

“Sorry can’t talk, I’m driving!”
