How spending $9.00 on an ASIC company search could save you

Hi guys  So today’s story is about how an ASIC search could be the single best $9 you could spend when chasing your customer who is a Pty Ltd company. We get referred a lot of hospitality debts, restaurants and cafes etc and today I was chasing a pub for $800 worth of tap repairs. The only contact was the pub manager who was just not responding. Whilst he was the one who engaged the client for the job, the actual pub was owned by a parent company. So I spend $9 and do a company search, and the registered office is an accountants, which is the case for almost every company. I call the accountants and in my absolutely friendliest voice ask them to please get an urgent message to the director regarding a very important business matter to do with the pub. The girl at the accountant says she will and 2 minutes later the director calls me wondering what the hell this is about. I explain the tap job at his pub had not been paid for and legal action was likely. He said he knew nothing about it and to speak with his bar manager to which I explained that sorry mate, it’s too late for that. I suggested given the urgency that he pay with his personal funds and then get reimbursed by the company, which he agreed was a good idea and 30 seconds later the credit card transaction is approved and everyone is happy!
Guys spending $9 on a company search is a fantastic way to open up all manner of new avenues and leads for you to pursue in search of your hard-earned. And always remember- company directors are 100% responsible for the financial solvency of their company. Ignorance and naivety are not a defence. Cheers!
